Prayer
I know that the Lord knows all about me. He knows my innermost thoughts, my personal feelings, everything, even the things I try and hide from Him. So here is my question... If He already knows before I say my prayers what I am going to pray for then why bother praying.. He could just read my mind and we'd be done with it.

Yes, but he wants us to ask. He could just give us everything we need without any effort on our part, but he wants us to be "proactive". I suppose it is the same thing as any parent feels about waiting for their child to ask for something they (the parent) already knows they want or need and have every intention of giving.
good point.. never thought of it that way
Oh and I should add too, He wants us to communicate with Him and if there was no need to pray, then we probably wouldn't. So that would be another reason too, I would imagine.
